Quick overview of the changes made to Restoration Shaman for Shadowlands. This article will be updated as Alpha and Beta progresses with the relevant information.

Spells

New Spells

  • Primal Strike
    • An instant weapon strike that causes Physical damage.
  • Flametongue Weapon
    • Imbue your weapon with the element of Fire for 30 min, causing each of your attacks to deal additional Fire damage.
  • Searing Totem
    • Summons a Fire Totem with 5 health at the feet of the caster for 15 sec that repeatedly attacks an enemy within 40 yds for Fire damage.
    • Removed again
  • Frost Shock
    • Chills the target with frost, causing Frost damage and reducing the target’s movement speed by 50% for 6 sec.
  • Lightning Shield
    • Surround yourself with a shield of lightning for 30 min. Melee attackers have a 100% chance to suffer Nature damage. Only one Elemental Shield can be active on the Shaman at a time.
  • Mana Tide Totem
    • Summons a Mana Tide Totem at the feet of the caster for 8 sec, granting 100% increased mana regeneration to party and raid members within 15 yds.
  • Water Shield
    • The caster is surrounded by globes of water, granting 30 mana per 5 sec. When a melee attack hits the caster, the caster regains 2% of their mana. This effect can only occur once every few seconds. Only one of your Elemental Shields can be active on you at once.
  • Earth Shield (Baseline)
  • Surge of Earth (Talent Replacing Earth Shield)
    • Consume up to 3 charges of Earth Shield to heal up to 6 allies near your Earth Shield target per charge consumed.

Covenants

The gist of it is that this is the new system for Shadowlands, replacing stuff like Essences. You have to pick 1 of the covenants and are stuck with that choice from what we know at this time, meaning you can only use 1 of the ability sets listed below. Each Covenant gives you 1 signature and 1 class specific ability and Soulbinds, which is another Artifact / Azerite like system. As there isn’t enough information about Soulbinds yet, they’re omitted for now.

All of the shaman abilities are hybrid, meaning you can use them to either deal damage, or to heal.

Covenant Abilities

  • Kyrian
    • Summon Steward
      • Call your steward to bring you a Phial of Serenity that can be consumed to restore 15% health and remove all Curse, Disease, Poison, and Bleed effects.
        Your Steward additionally offers access to a selection of useful amenities, each once per day.
      • 5 min cooldown
    • Vesper Totem
      • Animation: https://streamable.com/gk8i1t
      • Summon a totem at the target location for 30 sec. Your next 3 damage spells or abilities will cause the totem to radiate Arcane damage to up to 6 enemies near the totem, and your next 3 healing spells will heal up to 6 allies near the totem.
        Casting this ability again while the totem is active will relocate the totem.
      • The healing and damage parts of this totem are separate, you can use it times (3x healing, 3x damage) and relocate as often as you want while its active.
      • 40 yard range, 1 min cooldown
      • “Near the totem” equals 8 yard radius
  • Necrolords
    • Fleshcraft
      • Animation: https://streamable.com/9sc7g3
      • Form a shield of flesh and bone over 4 sec that absorbs damage equal to 20% of your maximum health for 2 min.
        Channeling near a corpse claims their essence to grow the shield, up to 50% of your maximum health. This is most effective against powerful enemies.
      • 10 yard range, 4 sec channel, 2 min cooldown.
    • Primordial Bolt
      • Animation: https://streamable.com/5y2xyg
      • Blast your target with a Primordial Bolt, dealing Shadow damage and apply Flame Shock to an enemy, or heal an ally and apply Riptide to them.
        Your next Healing Wave will also hit all targets affected by your Riptide.
      • Using Healing Wave on somebody with Riptide will cast 2 Healing Waves on that target.
      • Each Healing Wave (real and copies) is individual, only your real Healing Wave cast is affected by effects like Unleash Life and Undulation. They all scale on their own with stats.
      • The damage component (Lava Burst on Flame Shock targets) does not work in Restoration.
      • The direct heal on cast and Riptide application from this spell does not appear to consume Unleash Life.
      • 40 yard range, 45 second cooldown
  • Night Fae
    • Soulshape
      • Animation: https://streamable.com/h16h5f
      • Turn into a Vulpin, increasing movement speed by 30%. You may reactivate Soulshape to teleport 10 yds forward.
        Lasts 12 sec, or indefinitely while in a rest area.
      • 1.5 min cooldown
      • Can be used while in Ghost Wolf, but removes your Ghost Wolf form (you used to have both).
    • Fae Transfusion
      • Animation: https://streamable.com/vdivzi
      • Transfer the life force of up to 4 enemies in the targeted area, dealing Nature damage every 0.5 sec for 3 sec.
        Pressing Fae Transfusion again within 10 sec will release 25% of all damage from Fae Transfusion, healing up to 8 allies near yourself.
      • 3 second channel, reduced with haste
      • Healing radius is about 8 yards around yourself
  • Venthyr
    • Door of Shadows
      • Animation: https://streamable.com/r7yy1k
      • Wend through the shadows, appearing at the targeted location.
      • 35 yard range, 1.5 sec cast, 1 min cooldown
    • Chain Harvest
      • Send a wave of anima at the target, which then jumps to additional nearby targets. Deals Shadow damage to up to 5 enemies, and restores health to up to 5 allies.
        For each target critically struck, the cooldown of Chain Harvest is reduced by 5 sec.
      • 40 yard range, 2.5 second cast, 90 second cooldown
      • This can jump between allies and enemies for a total of 10 targets.
      • Nearby targets means 20 yard jump range around the targeted player, so a 20 yard radius aoe heal / damage without further range – unlike Chain Heal.
      • Can go down to 40 second cooldown if all hits crit

    • Embrace of Earth
      • Earth Shield increases your healing done to the target by an additional 5.0%.
    • Heavy Rainfall
      • Using Healing Tide Totem increases the healing of your Healing Rain by 150% for 20 sec.
    • Nature’s Reach
      • Chain Heal has a 40% chance to jump to an additional ally.
    • Swirling Currents
      • Using Healing Stream Totem increases the healing of your next 3 Healing Surge, Healing Wave, or Riptide spells by 20%.
    • Elysian Dirge (Kyrian)
      • Vesper Totem is 100% more effective against the target nearest to it.
    • Lavish Harvest (Venthyr)
      • The critical strike chance of Chain Harvest is increased by 10.0%.
    • Tumbling Waves (Necrolord)
      • Primordial Wave has a 20% chance to not incur its cooldown.
    • Essential Extraction (Night Fae)
      • Fae Transfusion deals 10% increased damage, and channels 10% faster.
  • Endurance
    • Astral Protection
      • Reincarnation’s cooldown is reduced by 3.0 min, and reincarnating instantly grants you Astral Shift.
    • Refreshing Waters
      • Your Healing Surge is 15% more effective on yourself.
    • Vital Accretion
      • Your Earth Elemental increases your maximum health by 20%.
  • Finesse
    • Crippling Hex
      • Enemies affected by your Hex deal 8% reduced damage for 8 sec after Hex is removed.
    • Spiritual Resonance
      • Bloodlust or any similar effects also grant you 4.0 sec of Spiritwalker’s Grace.
    • Thunderous Paws
      • Ghost Wolf increases your movement speed by an additional 10% for the first 3 sec. May only occur once every 60 sec.
    • Totemic Surge
      • The cooldowns of Tremor Totem, Earthbind Totem, and Capacitor Totem are reduced by 1 sec.
