Outer Ring Traits
Swelling Stream – Causes Healing Stream Totem (or Cloudburst Totem) to cast a 3 target Lesser Chain Heal every 3 seconds the totem is alive. These Lesser Chain Heals work exactly as the spell Chain Heal with a 30% reduction on bounces, but are not augmented by High Tide. The frequency of the totem casting Lesser Chain Heal does not scale with Haste. These Lesser Chain Heals do not feed Cloudburst Totem. By stacking multiples of this trait, only the healing of the Lesser Chain Heals is improved.
Overflowing Shores – Improves the radius of Healing Rain by 10% as well as causes an initial burst of healing on up to 6 allies inside Healing Rain upon cast completion. Only the healing scales with multiple traits.
Surging Tides – Adds an absorb shield when casting Riptide on targets below 50% health. This trait only applies to the initial heal of Riptide. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the size of the absorb shield.
Turn of the Tide – Provides a 5% bonus to TW. Also increases healing on HW and HS when a charge of TW is consumed. Stacking multiple traits increases the healing provided when a TW charge is consumed.
Ancestral Resonance – Provides a 10 second duration increase to your Bloodlust/Heroism. Also enables a chance to gain mastery for 15 seconds. This happens approximately once per minute, but has a 6ppm while Bloodlust/Heroism is active. Stacking multiple traits increases the mastery provided by the proc.
Synapse Shock – Provides a stacking intellect buff after hitting enemies with Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning stacking up to 5 times. Each hit of Chain Lightning provides a stack of intellect. Stacking multiples of this trait provides a larger intellect increase per stack.
Swirling Sands – Increases Critical Strike rating for 12 seconds. While the buff holds, critically striking extends the duration for up to an extra 6 seconds. Since we have so many spells that have multiple hits, this effect will almost always have an 18 second duration. Stacking multiples of this trait adds more Critical Strike rating.
Secrets of the Deep – Causes small droplets of water / void around you. Both droplets increase your intellect and can be stacked as they provide different buffs. Picking up multiple droplets extends the duration of each buff. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the intellect gained by each of the buffs.
Unstable Catalyst – Provides a chance to spawn a pool of Azerite below your feet that increases your intellect while you remain in it.
Blightborne Infusion – Increases Critical Strike rating for 14 seconds on proc. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the Critical Strike rating of the buff.
Blood Rite – Increases Haste rating for 15 seconds. If anyone in your raid kills an enemy the duration of this buff is refreshed. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the Haste rating of the buff.
Meticulous Scheming – Gives your abilities a chance to provide a buff that transforms into a Haste increase after casting 3 unique abilities. If you are using this trait, you need to know when to cast 3 unique abilities to gain the Haste buff or this trait is useless. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the Haste provided.
Incite the Pack – Provides a Mastery proc for you and nearby allies. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the Mastery provided to you and your allies.
Tradewinds – Provides a Mastery increase for 15 seconds, then the buff jumps to a nearby ally granting them reduced Mastery for 8 seconds. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the Mastery provided to you and your ally.
Archive of the Titans – Provides a stacking intellect increase that increases every 5 seconds up to a total of 20 stacks. Also provides Reorigination Array while in Uldir. Reorigionation Array increases your highest secondary stat by 75 per stack. You can gain more stacks by killing 3 bosses in Uldir each week. Stacking multiples of this trait provides more mainstat per stack of the Archive of the Titans buff.
Laser Matrix – Provides a chance on healing spells to cause a burst of healing that splits evenly among nearby allies. This can also proc on damage events and split damage to nearby enemies. Also provides Reorigination Array while in Uldir. Reorigionation Array increases your highest secondary stat by 75 per stack. You can gain more stacks by killing 3 bosses in Uldir each week. Stacking multiples of this trait provides more healing and damage on proc.
Seductive Power – Your spells have a chance to spawn a visage of Bwonsomdi. Collecting the visage gives intellect and stamina stacking up to 5 times. Failing to collect a visage will cause you to lose a stack. Multiple traits increases the intellect and stamina gained from each stack.
Treacherous Covenant – While above 50% health, you gain intellect. Falling below 20% health causes you to take 15% more damage. Stacking multiple traits increases the intellect provided while above 50% health.
Bonded Souls – Your abilities have a chance to link you to your nearest ally. Every 5 seconds you and your ally are healed and gain a haste buff that lasts for 5 seconds. This link lasts for 15 seconds total and can be transferred to another ally by them being the closest ally to you. Stacking multiple traits increases the healing and haste provided to you and your nearest ally.
Loyal to the End – Increases your mastery and gives more mastery based on how many people in your raid are also using a Loyal to the End trait (caps with 4 others using the trait). If someone with Loyal to the End equipped were to die, everyone else wearing Loyal to the End azerite will gain Critical Strike, Haste, and Versatility equal to the amount of mastery the trait provides. Stacking multiple traits increases how much mastery you get baseline which then increases the other stats provided when someone else dies.
Arcane Heart – Every 1,500,000 damage or healing you do increases your main stat for 15 sec. Damage and healing count towards the same overall progression towards the main stat buff. You also heal for 5% of all arcane damage you take. Stacking multiple traits increases the amount of main stat you gain when you meet the 1,500,000 damage or healing proc.
Undulating Tides – Gives your damaging spells a chance to deal extra frost damage. If you fall below 50% health, you gain an absorb shield for 8 sec and you will be unable to trigger both the damage and shield for 45 sec. Stacking multiple traits increases the damage dealt by the offensive proc as well as increases the absorb when you fall below 50% health.
Endless Hunger (H) – Provides flat versatility and heals the wearer when you walk near a dead enemy. Multiple traits adds more versatility and more healing on the proc.
Apothecary’s Concoction (H) – Causes damaging spells to sometimes leave a damage over time effect on the target. Also causes healing spells to sometimes leave a healing over time effect on the target. Stacking multiple traits adds more damage and healing to the respective proc.
Ancients’ Bulwark (A) – Increases versatility while only standing still. While moving you are healed for a small amount
Shadow of Elune (A) – Provides a chance to proc haste for 15 seconds. If it is nighttime, you also gain 10% move speed during the duration. Stacking multiple traits adds more haste to the proc.
Middle Ring Traits
Earthlink – Increases Intellect by a small amount that ramps up over 6 seconds, then decays over 6 seconds. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the Intellect provided at each stack.
Concentrated Mending – Provides a chance on healing event to proc a small heal over time effect that doubles in strength up to 6 times. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the healing of each tick.
On My Way – Increases Versatility and Speed rating. Stacking multiples of this trait provides more Versatility and Speed.
Synergistic Growth – After casting Chain Heal, gain a Mastery rating increase for 10 seconds. This has a 30 second internal cooldown. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the Mastery of the proc.
Blood Siphon – Increases Mastery and Leech rating. Stacking multiples of this trait provides more Mastery and Leech.
Woundbinder – Provides a chance to increase Haste for 6 seconds. The proc rate of this scales depending on how low your target is. Stacking multiples of this trait provides more Haste.
Blessed Portents – Gives your healing spells a chance to place a buff on your target. If someone with the buff were to take damage that brings them below 35% health, they are healed. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the healing provided when the buff is consumed.
Ephemeral Recovery – After each healing spell, provides a buff that restores mana over time. This buff stacks up to two times and then will refresh on every successful healing cast. Stacking multiples of this trait gives more mana back.
Bracing Chill – Provides a chance for your healing spells to place a 6 stack buff on your target. Healing a target with this buff will proc the buff and provide some healing, and cause the buff to jump to another ally and lose a stack. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the healing when a buff is consumed.
Savior – Gives your spells a small chance to proc and extra heal when healing someone below 35% health. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the healing of the proc.
Elemental Whirl – Gives a chance on damage events to give you a random secondary stat for 10 seconds. Stacking multiples of this trait provides more secondary stats.
Unstable Flames – Gives a chance to gain a stack of Critical Strike rating for 5 seconds that can stack up to 5 times. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the Critical Strike rating provided.
Inner Ring Traits
Bulwark of the Masses – Provides an absorb shield when there are 4 or more enemies around you. This has a 15 second internal cooldown. Stacking multiples of this trait provides a larger absorb shield.
Self Reliance – Heals you every 3 seconds while there are no enemies within 20 yards. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the healing provided.
Impassive Visage – Heals you whenever you take damage. This has a 6 second internal cooldown. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the healing provided.
Azerite Fortification – Heals you whenever you are stunned, immobilized, or knocked back. Using a goblin’s racial Goblin Jump procs this. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the healing provided.
Resounding Protection – Gives you an absorb shield every 30 seconds that lasts for 30 seconds. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the size of the shield.
Vampiric Speed – Heals you and provides a small speed boost for 6 sec whenever someone in your raid kills an enemy. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the healing and speed provided.
Gemhide – Provides a small armor and avoidance increase when you take more than 10% of your health in a single hit. Stacking multiples of this trait provides more armor and avoidance.
Longstrider – Increases your movement speed by a percentage of your highest secondary rating. Stacking multiples of this trait increases the movement speed cap as well as the percentage of secondary stat that calculates the movement speed increase.
Traits to Obtain
Below is a table generated as a generalized ranking of traits in terms of intellect. To compare Azerite pieces, add up the intellect value for each trait at the respective item level as well as the intellect on the pieces. Whichever has the higher value is the better piece generally. When evaluating different pieces of Azerite Armor, consider the outer row as the main power of the piece. The middle and inner rings generally provide very small increases to your overall throughput on most encounters. Don’t be afraid to drop a middle or inner trait for a higher level Azerite piece as the all traits scale off item level. Your first Archive of the Titans or Laser Matrix (to activate Reorigination Array) is the only mandatory trait when raiding. Best of luck hunting optimized pieces!
